About the Position | |

● Assist children with their homework under supervision by teachers ● Assist with the children's snack during sessions ● Assist with set up and clean up of the room and program teaching materials, snacks, etc. ● Other tasks as requested *** This opportunity is a weekly commitment on WEDNESDAY *** Volunteer MBC clients (with volunteer 'profiles', that are easily created!) can gain immediate access to the Centre's online VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM by clicking the yellow box 'Apply Now!' > The 'Assistant' will have the satisfaction of making a tangible difference in the lives of children who are struggling with their school work >> Also, there is the satisfaction of providing healthy snacks to children who often go to school hungry >>> And, the satisfaction in your support of teachers, co-op and placement students, and co-volunteers in order to facilitate their success in helping the children >>>> Secondary school students will earn hours towards the Ontario 'community service' (40 hour) graduation requirement |

● Friendly, engaging, patient with children and parents ● Punctual, reliable, and able to follow instructions ● Excellent oral/written English ● Ability to volunteer as part of a team, plus independently ● For secondary school students, good grades will be considered an asset in favour of your engagement as a volunteer ● Satisfactory 'Vulnerable Sector' Police Check - if 18 or older *** See 'Time Commitment', below |

1 hour session to go through 'The Journey's' Volunteer Pack, and on-the-job assistance until comfortable with the program. | |
