About the Position
Kids.Now Canada Elementary schools in Brampton and Mississauga Mississauga, Brampton
● The Program focuses on students' self-esteem, goal-setting, effective communication, positive conflict resolution (including peer pressure issues and bullying), and overall stress management
● 12 week program
● ONE DAY per week (typically after school, Mon thru Thurs, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM), Feb & March, 2019
● Applicants for the role may state the school that they prefer (every attempt will be made to accommodate you)

The 'Volunteer Mentor' facilitates:
- a group of 10 students
- their engagement interactively, designed for education and fun: games, activities, skits, role-playing, presentations, team-building/awareness exercises through pairing up, etc., social awareness (incl. special emphasis on wise choices/peer pressure and bullying response)
- preparation of a student for the challenges in secondary school

● Minimum age - 21
● Friendly, engaging, and committed to helping students of elementary school age
● You possess great caring and listening skills, combined with enthusiasm and patience
● Ability to guide a group with both organization and the capacity to be creative
● Adaptable, able to sustain interest and energy, plus generate a fun-loving atmosphere
● Informed and committed to educating youth about the serious issue of bullying
● Observant, ensuring that all participate in a warm, safe recreational (educational) environment

PLEASE NOTE that the nature of the role mandates that our volunteers provide a satisfactory 'Polce Vulnerable Sector Check', as part of the screening process.
