Position Description: 'Bridging the Gap' (Tuesday (weekly) from 3 - 5 pm)
- Seniors will reciprocate with teens (who will acquaint seniors with 'social media' and other aspects of 21st century technology, including 'ipads') by seniors sharing 'pre-technology' games/crafts that remembers the 'old ways' and shows that they're still fun!

The program is designed to be a healthy, productive, and engaging 'bridge' between older adults and youth, with benefits for both generations!

PLEASE APPLY IMMEDIATELY, given that the Grandpals Project is already active, with 'Bridging the Gap' in need of teen volunteers.
Goal of Position: The Story Garden is a space dedicated to promoting reading and inclusiveness, regardless of age, race, religion, language or culture, with programs aimed at fighting illiteracy within the communities we serve. Our Mission: Growing vibrant communities through the transforming power of literacy ... one child, one family, one neighbourhood at a time.

Our 'Grandpals Project', about to launch (lasting 52 weeks), includes 3 weekly programs and 5 (event) 'tea parties', all of which are principally concerned with seniors' health, wellness, especially socialization.

The Project includes a unique program, 'Bridging the Gap', a collaboration and exchange between tech-savvy teens and seniors. To accomplish this program's goals, The Story Garden seeks upwards of 40 teens to volunteer for 'Bridging the Gap'.

Training Details: 'Bridging the Gap' orientation/training will be arranged, having regard to your specific role.
Position Qualifications: ● Minimum age - 13
● Solid oral/written English communication skills
● Fluency in another language welcome
● Familiar with, and confident in explaining, 'social media', and use of 'ipads' and related devices (PCs, laptops, tablets, etc.)
● Receptive to seniors' explanations/demonstrations of 'pre-technology'
● Friendly, engaging, and keen to accomplish the program goals
● Organized, committed to abide by session schedule(s)
● Comfortable in volunteering as part of a team, and one-on-one with seniors
Time Commitment: Tuesday Afternoon
Duration: Medium Term (4 - 6 months)
Time Detail: 'Bridging the Gap': Tuesday's from 3 to 5 pm

(Extra time may be required for training, plus set up/tear down of each session. Volunteers are requested to be flexible.)
