Working under the supervision of the Program Manager, our VIRTUAL Youth Program Assistants will lead and participate online in a variety of leadership, social, and physical development activities aimed at engaging youth in fun, recreational, and life-long learning objectives. Specifics:




  • Showcase, demonstrate, and explain to all participants appropriate guidelines and examples of healthy eating habits, plus positive habits for promoting health/wellness, particularly during COVID-19

  • 'Virtually' supervise youth attending the program online and promote healthy participation and respect amongst all participants during delivery of program activities

  • Ensure that a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to encourage and support youth

  • Report on a regular basis to the Program Manager regarding overall/individual progress, plus in respect of any issues of need and/or concern

  • Minimum age - 17 (maximum age - 21)

  • TWO MONTH volunteer engagement (July 5 to August 28, 2021)

  • Volunteering experience in leading youth activities preferred (knowledge of youth program design is a further asset)

  • Satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check' (for 18+)

  • Ability to volunteer as part of a team in a dynamic educational/recreational environment

  • Excellent oral/written English communication skills (additional fluency in other languages welcome)

  • Reliable access, plus confident with, the Internet and devices/software appropriate for 'virtual delivery' of this program

  • Friendly, engaging, with ability to volunteer in productive relationships with co-volunteers, staff, youth participants, and their parents/guardians

  • Organized, adaptive, and reliable (incl. adherence to program scheduling and session prep requirements)

  • Commitment to program policies/procedures (including those that relate to safety and confidentiality)
