Goal of Position: The Small Arms Inspection Building, located in the Lakeview community of Mississauga, is a compelling, light-filled WWII heritage building with an essential connection to parkland, conservation lands, the waterfront, trails, and neighbourhood. This historical and cultural landmark was saved from intended demolition through the efforts of the 'Small Arms Society' (SAS), a non-profit, community-driven organization that continues to preserve and offer the building for multiple cultural uses.

On Saturday, May 25, 2019, the Small Arms Society is going 'Back to the '40s', to remember a year when the Small Arms Inspection Building was at its peak - 1944. Music, dancing, food, film, plus classic cars. Volunteers and our attendees will be invited to dress in period garb from those old days.

BOUND TO BE A GREAT SPRING WEEKEND EVENT, and we are in need of enthusiastic, energetic volunteers to ensure by their valuable contributions that 'Back to the '40's'will be an unqualified SUCCESS!

Training Details: A run-through of the event beforehand will be conducted for 'event volunteers' (date to be scheduled in the near future).
Position Qualifications: ● Minimum age - 16
● This is a 6-hour event (standing for extended periods may be required)
● Willing to learn about the Small Arms Society and the heritage that it preserves
● Commitment to attend/complete the orientation/training session for the event
● Solid oral English communication skills
● Willingness to be friendly/engaging with members of the public
● Commitment to volunteer as part of a team, plus independently
● Punctuality for training and the event (May 25) is a MUST
