● Volunteers are will use their own vehicles to pick up and/or drop off palliative individuals to programs, and for personal appointments, shopping, etc. ● Flexible hours, with Wednesday being a frequent weekly attendance, so that the palliative individual can attend a program at the Hospice ***** Volunteers are reimbursed for their gas mileage. > Drivers make it possible for palliative individuals to attend programs as they near end of life > Volunteer make a significant positive impact on the impact of their lives, in their time of need > Volunteers also join the network of The Dorothy Ley Hospice volunteers and are invited to socialize and contribute to the overall success of the hospice as volunteers > Secondary school students may earn hours towards their '40 hours' community service graduation requirement > Vehicle mileage is paid |

● Minimum Age - 18 ● Satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check' required ● Volunteers must be in possession of a 'G' license and a vehicle ● Must have valid insurance and notify insurance company of use of insured vehicle for this role ● Volunteers must be reliable and as punctual as possible ● It is helpful if the volunteer is able to engage in conversation with the individual ● Ready and able to give assistance to the palliative individual entering/exiting the vehicle, from a residence, etc. |

| Drivers are required to complete a 30 hour palliative care hospice training course. This course is very helpful for all, to learn about how to properly care for people who are at end-of-life. | |
