About the Position
Riverwood Conservancy (The) The Riverwood Conservancy, Riverwood Park Lane, Mississauga, ON, Canada Mississauga, Brampton
● Cares for 3 aquariums with Fish, Red-eared Slider turtles and Fire-Bellied Toads
● Prepares food and feeds the animals
● Observes and recognizes medical conditions that may require treatment, and promptly reports those conditions to staff
● Treats animals with topical medications
● Promptly reports all non-functional equipment to the staff
● Cleans aquarium glass, water, substrate and filtration systems
● Maintains aquarium water levels and performs simple water quality tests
● Maintains a clean and organized area to facilitate a safe environment for work
● Adheres to all established safety protocols and reports unsafe conditions to staff
● Assists in record-keeping (and occasional special projects if needed, and the volunteer desires to join in)

● Prior experience successfully maintaining fresh water aquariums is PREFERRED
● Ability to pick up and handle aquatic turtles safely and comfortably
● Must be comfortable working with live crickets, earthworms, and mealworms
● Applicants must be able to bend, climb step stools, and be on their feet for 2 hours at a time
● Willing to work in an environment (atmosphere) with fish and filtration odors
● Ability to use fine motor skills to prepare/deliver fresh food for animals in appropriate quantities
Volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Application and TRC's Orientation.
