About the Position

Community Living Mississauga is a large non-profit, charitable Organization, that supports over 3,000 individuals who have an intellectual disability.

The volunteer we are looking for will work closely with our Early Childhood Education Resource Services staff, principally on a short-term project (that combines various important educational features).

The volunteer will support staff in the following areas:
- Update our existing library of materials in early childhood development, exceptionalities in learning, and disabilities
- Develop an online folder of developmental priorities
- Help in the creation of 'Visuals' for childcare programs (for example, picture communication boards, storyboards, cue/flash cards, signage, symbols, including laminating, etc., to develop and boost visual literacy)

Since the volunteer's engagement is scheduled to occur during the THIRD WEEK OF JULY, those WISHING TO APPLY are encouraged to do so AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (well before July 12, 2019).

*** This position is a perfect fit for an Early Childhood Education student, a high school student thinking of a career in Early Childhood Education, an adult with expertise in library sciences or Early Childhood Education.
● Minimum age - 15
● Solid oral/written English
● Strong proficiency, confidence with Microsoft OFFICE and related software
● Experience working in an office environment is an asset
● Ability to volunteer collaboratively as part of a team, and independently
● Project-oriented (able to complete project stages progressively and comply with deadlines)
● Highly organized, with requisite attention to detail
● Experience working in 'visual literacy' is an asset (story boards, cue/flash cards, printed prompts, photos/images, signage, symbols, etc.)
Onsite orientation and training will be provided
