About the Position

As a Coding Tutor, the volunteers selected will be responsible for facilitating and teaching a set curriculum a small group of students in Grades 3 to 5 during the summer break. This program will be delivered 'in person', and tech-savvy students in Grade 12 are also invited to apply for this 'role'.

Unique opportunity to develop/implement a trendsetting program for local youth Use/enhance your training/skills in an educational setting (add to your resume) + Secondary school students qualifying for this 'role' can add to hours of 'community service' required to graduate + Engage/refine your 'project planning' abilities Experience teaching/coaching children in Grades 3 to 5 (introduce them to elementary concepts needed to develop vital skills) Add to your program administration experience Learn about ROTARY 'Service Above Self' outreaches that benefit your community Personal satisfaction in knowing that you contributed towards equipping children in their early years to succeed in school, in business, in life


  • Minimum Age - 16 (provided you're in Grade 12 and tech-savvy)

  • Volunteer engagement (program planning/development/delivery) is anticipated to last into August 2022 , preferably for about 1 month

  • Up-to-date knowledge of 'coding' such that you are able, comfortable, and confident in teaching/explaining it to others, especially introducing 'coding' to children at the Grade 3 to 5 level

  • Program planning and development experience is an asset (including prep of teaching materials, education plans, schedules, staging, and deadlines)

  • Friendly, outgoing, collaborative with the ROTARY club, its membership, etc.

  • Given that very young children are involved in this program, a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required
