About the Position
Knights Table Knights Table: 287 Glidden Road, Brampton, Ontario Brampton

As a Volunteer Cook at Knights Table, you will:




  • Provide assistance in the kitchen, creating meal plans, while adhering to Health & Safety Standards/Regulations

  • Report to the Operations Manager, with responsibility for professional preparation and serving of hot meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner), supervising those volunteers who are assisting you

  • Provide ongoing 'customer service' to clients, including addressing any food-related questions or concerns

  • Ensure food loss is kept at a minimum

  • Assist with and ensure inventory practices and portion control are adhered to

  • Ensure volunteers, equipment and kitchen facilities meet all Region of Peel Public Health regulations

  • Ensure kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, while reporting malfunctioning equipment to the Operations Manager

  • Initiate and supervise opening and closing procedures, plus maintain a safe and tidy space that ensures that equipment is set up and stored appropriately

  • Report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to Operations Manager, ready to attend operational meetings/trainings as requested

  • Perform other related tasks, if requested

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • Prior quality experience in a commercial food preparation environment and/or formal training with strong food preparation and cooking focus

  • Recognized 'food handling certification' is a definite asset

  • Passion for helping others by volunteering

  • Commitment to learn about the Knights Table

  • Ready and able to volunteer for AT LEAST 3 MONTHS, preferably longer

  • Prepared to adhere to an agreed weekly schedule (see TIME COMMITMENT, below)

  • Respect for health and safety procedures, especially food handling



SCREENING of applicants for this volunteering opportunity initially will be virtual/remote (Tel/Email/Online interviewing), with suitable candidates invited to tour the Knights Table facilities.
