What our Mahjong Volunteers will be engaged in:
- Sign in at the volunteer office and obtain the attendance sheet
- Remind residents to participate (names and room numbers on sheet), plus invite others
- Set up the main lobby with chairs from storage in a circle with enough space for the residents to get up and move around safely
- Facilitate the program (Mahjong usually is played by tables of 4 players, and you will instruct, coach, and support them, depending upon their ability, knowledge, and experience)
- Take attendance (when in doubt, ask the residents to tell you their names)
- Thank the residents for participating and tell them when you will be seeing them next
- Place the chairs used for Mahjong back in storage, restoring the lobby
- Sign out at the volunteer office, leaving the session attendance sheet
For this indoor recreational activity, COVID-19 precautions/protocols are strictly adhered to, for the health & safety of all involved (see TRAINING, below)

- Minimum Age - 14
- Familiarity with the game of Mahjong, and at MICBA you're able to confidently encourage and assist both novices (introduction/instruction) and experienced players in playing the game, helping our residents enjoy a fun, leisure experience
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is a definite asset for this 'role'
- Commitment to volunteer for at least 6 MONTHS
- Ability to strictly observe COVID-19 Safety Protocols and the requirements of the 'role' (see DESCRIPTION, above)
- Experience assisting seniors in their daily living, health and wellness is welcome, but not required

- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
SCREENING of applicants will initially be remote/virtual (telephone/email/online interviewing), unless otherwise advised

ORIENTATION onsite is required (approximatly 1.5 hours long). This will include: Forum Italia policies review, documentation to be signed, facility tour, and volunteers will take home our volunteer handbook and an information package.
TRAINING will focus on COVID-19 Precautions and Safety Protocols, as well as how Mahjong is set up at MICBA.
