About the Position
Toronto and Region Conservation Heart Lake Conservation Park, Heart Lake Road, Brampton, ON, Canada Brampton

MAJOR TASKS:




  • Removing invasive species

  • monitoring planting sites

  • stream restoration

  • building turtle nesting boxes and identifying local bumblebees. 



TYPICAL DAY:




  • Arrival at designated pick up location

  • Bus to site for 9am

  • Orientation (icebreakers) and training session (to comply with all health and safety instructions)

  • Program begins (outdoor fun!); Bus returns to drop volunteers back at pickup locations. 



 

A week with the Conservation Youth Corps program involves fun, learning, and hard work! You will learn about plant species, environmental cycles, insects, restoration work, how to use tools and how to fish, amongst many other things :) 



You will be part of a crew of students with your own crew leader. You will get picked up at a designated location in the morning and dropped off in the afternoon at the spot, Monday through Friday. It's a great week! Monday will be an orientation and team-building day; Tuesday to Friday will be work days. You will be working in Conservation Parks and public lands in your community, making a positive impact on the natural environment. 


  • At least 14 years of age

  • Currently enrolled in High School and returning in September 2024

  • Able to commit to volunteering for one full week (Monday - Friday) during designated period

  • Interested in the outdoors and environmental conservation

  • Comfortable working in a team environment

  • Punctual and reliable



Please note: volunteers less than 18 years of age require parental or guardian consent to participate in this program.
