Goal

For July and August, Community Living Mississauga invites volunteers aged 15 - 24 (must be finishing grade 10) to support teens who have an intellectual disability in making the most of all that summertime has to offer youth in Mississauga. 

Whether you can volunteer for 1 week or the entirety of the 8-week program, we know that you'll enjoy supporting teens with an intellectual disability to enjoy summer activities that may include: sports, art,  movies, swimming, bowling, movies, etc.


Description

Working under the supervision of Community Living Mississauga employees, volunteers can volunteer a minimum of one week (Monday - Friday). The volunteers are responsible for providing support to youth (ages 13 to 21), while they take part in a number of different recreational activities in the community. Duties include:

  1. Support youth to fully participate in various activities and community outings
  2. To volunteer as part of a team with our employees
  3. To make a commitment to volunteer for a minimum of one week Monday to Friday (depending on availability)

Our program starts in July, and CLM is screening youth volunteers for a limited number of spots RIGHT NOW. Click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' Qualifications

  • Minimum Age - 15 (must be finishing Grade 10 in June 2025)
  • Maximum Age - 25  
  • Passionate about supporting youth in your community who have an intellectual disability
  • You're also passionate about inclusion. 
  • Solid communication skills that include active listening and a patient, caring attitude
  • You take volunteering commitments seriously, diligent about keeping to agreed schedules (see TIME COMMITMENT, below)
  • A virtual interview
  • If you are 18 or over, a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required
  • You're available for mandatory TRAINING (see below)
  • You are able to provide THREE (3) References as part of the application/screening process (please note: references can be personal rather than professional)

Time Commitment
This is a Short Term (3 months or less) commitment starting 2025-07-01 AND ending 2025-08-31
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon

FLEXIBLE (weekdays in July & August): 
Youth volunteers may volunteer from one week to eight weeks.


Training

TRAINING is mandatory for this volunteering opportunity. Successful candidates will receive an orientation to Community Living Mississauga and training that relates to the role.

Scheduling details will be provided as part of the screening process.
