Goal

At Regeneration Outreach Community, it's our mission to break the cycle of poverty in Brampton. We do this by providing accessible and thoughtful programs that instill dignity, empowerment, and a renewed sense of hope. Our Essential Care program focuses on the primary needs of everyday life, including a Food Bank and Meals nearly every day of the year for our guests, designed to help meet the nutritional needs of those who are homeless and those who are living in extreme poverty within the city of Brampton.This program involves many volunteers who fill a variety of roles, all of which are essential for delivery of food to our guests, including our Volunteer Marketplace Helpers.


Description

The Volunteer Marketplace Helper is directly involved in food (and other donation) intake and sorting within our food bank/marketplace. This role operates in shifts. 

Regeneration regards the safety and protection of our valuable volunteers as a top priority.

Qualifications

The requirements for this role are straightforward:

  • Minimum Age - 16
  • Oral English
  • Ability to follow instructions, plus be organized
  • Moderate physical activity, including standing
  • Pair of closed-toe shoes
  • Committed to your 'shift schedule', punctual, reliable
  • Police check required for volunteers who are 18 and above

Please note: Mornings and Afternoons only. No evening shifts available.

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2024-08-01 AND ending 2024-12-31
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon

Marketplace - 253 Queen St E, Brampton

Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM | 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Wednesday - 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Saturday - 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM


Training

Orientations are mandatory to attend and will be scheduled for you by the volunteer coordinator. Orientations are usually Monday afternoons. 

Once you have attended an orientation, you will be scheduled for (2) Training Shifts.

Please note: Mondays are a preparation day ONLY. No guest interactions, only sorting and prepping food donations. Saturdays are morning shifts only. We are closed on Sundays.



> Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays Thursdays, Fridays:

Morning Shift: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM / Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM



> Saturdays: 

Morning Shift: 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM



Volunteers use a check-in system in order to select specific shifts for the week ahead.
