GoalShelter Movers provides moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We are the only service of this kind in Canada, and our volunteers are no less exceptional. Every year, in collaboration with community partners, our volunteer teams contribute over 15,000 hours to support people transitioning to lives free of violence and abuse.Currently, in Peel Region, Toronto, and York Region, we are moving an average of 40 families a month. We are looking for compassionate people to join our dynamic, dedicated volunteer team. |

DescriptionThe Organization Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence. Volunteering at Shelter Movers means contributing to a mission that will make a meaningful impact on families experiencing abuse and supporting survivors as they transition to a life free of violence. It also means playing a role in ending gender-based violence. We are growing and looking to add caring, compassionate, and dependable people to our team. The Role Move Coordinators are an integral part of the Operations team, planning and coordinating all details of a move as well as providing on-call support on the day of a move. The Move Coordinator corresponds with the client, ensures volunteer teams are prepared, and that the move goes smoothly, including responding to and problem-solving unforeseen challenges on the day of the move. Move Coordination Supervisors and the Operations Manager will provide ongoing support to Move Coordinators throughout the coordination process. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Role Details The role of a Move Coordinator is not performed in a single or continuous shift, rather moves are assigned to you, and then planning takes 6-8 hours over the course of a few days up to a week. Move Coordinators must also be available remotely during the move to provide on-call support. Moves usually take place during the hours of 9 AM - 4 PM, and average 6 - 8 hours long. This is a primarily remote position; although Move Coordinators are required to participate in moves as a Mover / Driver as a part of their initial training process We ask for a long-term commitment in this role (6+ months) due to the amount of time and effort it takes to train a Move Coordinator |

TrainingVolunteers are required to complete AODA Training and attend a virtual trauma-informed orientation. Participation in a minimum of 2 moves as a Mover/Driver is also required as a part of the initial training process. Role-specific training will be provided to the successful candidate. |
