Goal

Established in 1984, Caledon Meals on Wheels (CMOW) is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit agency that provides programs and services to seniors and people with disabilities living in Caledon, Orangeville and the surrounding communities.


Description

We’re looking to recruit 20 youth volunteers, ages 14-18, to participate in this exciting program. It’s a 9-week commitment, starting mid-April (right after Easter weekend) and running until early June. Sessions will be held once a week for 90 minutes at the Albion Bolton Library

This project pairs youth volunteers (ages 14-18) with older adults in a 9-week life story writing workshop. Together, they’ll capture and document the seniors' life stories, which will be compiled into a published book to be shared with families and loved ones.

Program Details:

  • Duration: 9 weeks
  • Commitment: 90 minutes per week, from mid-April to early June
  • Location: Albion Bolton Library
  • Meeting Time: After school (Thursdays or Fridays at 4:00 or 4:30 PM – final time will be based on participant availability)
  • Who can apply: Youth volunteers aged 14-18 with strong conversation and writing skills

Time Commitment
This is a Short Term (3 months or less) commitment starting 2025-04-24 AND ending 2025-06-12
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Thursday Evening, Friday Evening

Based on the majority preference we will be picking between Thursdays starting at 4:00PM/4:30PM or Fridays at 4:00 PM/4:30PM


Training

First day will be orientation/training for the program. Date will be sent out once we have fulfilled volunteer roles, closer to the start date.
