Description

If you are passionate about acting and the dramatic arts and are interested in making a difference in your community, join the Peel Regional Paramedic Services Training Support program as an Emergency Scenario Actor! This is a unique opportunity to assist paramedic trainees in building the skills they need to save lives. As a volunteer, you will be playing a vital role in aiding the team with practical training through role playing / portraying victims of a mass casualty. Volunteers are needed to act as victims in simulated emergency scenarios. These scenes may involve loud noises, fake blood, and makeup to mimic injuries, and some activities will take place outdoors in varying weather conditions. 

ROLE EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

- The exercise will aim to simulate a mass casualty incident and as such, volunteers must be comfortable in an environment with loud noises, fake blood, fake injuries, etc.

- Volunteer must be comfortable with the application of simulated injury makeup

- Scenes will take place both indoors and outdoors (regardless of weather, e.g. rain or snow)

- Assist with practical scenarios assessments, including acting as a Bystander, Patient, Family Member and First Responder and assisting with clean-up and resetting ‘scenes’ multiple times throughout the volunteer shift

-  Must have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs of equipment, multiple times throughout the volunteer shift, to reset ‘scenes’

Qualifications

Minimium age requirment: 18+

Two references required

Must be comfortable in an environment with loud noises, fake blood, fake injuries, etc.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs of equipment, multiple times throughout the volunteer shift

Must be able to commit to three hour long shifts

 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

Ability to maintain confidentiality 

Comfortable working as part of a team

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2025-09-15 AND ending 2026-01-31
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Monday Evening, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Tuesday Evening, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Wednesday Evening, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Thursday Evening, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon, Friday Evening

Google sheet will be emailed for shift sign-ups. Shifts run on varying dates with set times between 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM & 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM.

Volunteers must commit to the entirety of the signed-up shift, early dismissal is not permitted. 

 


Training

Mandatory General Region of Peel, Health Services orientation. 

Task-specific orientation by Service Instructor will be provided on the day of the shift.

Orientation and training will include relevant polices and procedures.
