Goal

Epilepsy South Central Ontario is a non-profit charitable organization that provides education, information, and support to families and individuals. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons living with epilepsy. Our annual gift wrapping fundraising project is about to get underway. With the invaluable contributions by our volunteers, we seek to maintain a positive and creative atmosphere wrapping gifts in a professional manner, and at the same time the project will help create awareness and understanding regarding Epilepsy in the Mississauga area.


Description

Gift Wrap 4 Epilepsy is a holiday fundraising campaign where volunteers provide gift-wrapping services to shoppers at Shoppers World Brampton, with all proceeds supporting Epilepsy South Central Ontario.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Perform basic gift wrapping, with occasional need for specialized or creative wrapping (for unusually shaped gifts)

  • Be consistent and detail-oriented in your work

  • Use your creativity to enhance the holiday experience for shoppers

  • Represent Epilepsy South Central Ontario in a professional and positive manner

To get started, volunteers must first confirm and attend a mandatory training session.

Qualifications

We’re looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who can work collaboratively in a team environment while representing Epilepsy South Central Ontario with professionalism and care.

Ideal volunteers are:

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Friendly and able to engage with the public

  • Comfortable working in both slow-paced and high-pressure environments

  • Willing to follow booth guidelines and take initiative when needed

  • Able to attend a mandatory training session (sign up below)

Dress Code:

  • Dark pants/slacks/skirt

  • Light-colored top (no slogans, jeans, or t-shirts)

  • Please dress as a semi-professional would

  • An apron will be provided to protect your clothing during shifts

Time Commitment
This is a Special Event commitment starting 2025-11-16 AND ending 2025-12-24
Shifts are available Anytime

  • The Gift Wrap 4 Epilepsy campaign runs throughout the holiday season at Shoppers World Brampton (dates to be provided during training).

  • Shifts are typically available during mall hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Volunteers will be able to select their preferred shifts after attending a mandatory training session.

  • Shifts will vary in length (usually 3–4 hours), with multiple shifts available per day.

  • Volunteers are encouraged to commit to multiple shifts, if possible, to ensure consistent coverage and maximize the impact of the fundraiser.

  • Schedule flexibility is offered — you choose the shifts that best fit your availability.

  • Detailed shift sign-up instructions will be provided after training.


Training

All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory in-person training session before participating in any gift-wrapping shifts.

During the training, volunteers will learn proper gift-wrapping techniques, including helpful tips for wrapping unusually shaped or delicate items. The session will also cover customer service expectations and how to engage respectfully and positively with shoppers. Volunteers will gain a deeper understanding of the mission of Epilepsy South Central Ontario and how to professionally represent the organization throughout the campaign.

Additionally, the training will provide an overview of booth setup, the required dress code, and general shift procedures. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to ask questions and practice their wrapping skills in a supportive environment.
