Goal

To become familiar with general care, husbandry and behaviour of shelter animals.


Description

As the Volunteer Assistant, Kennel, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Ensure the kennel facilities are sterile and disinfected and maintain overall cleanliness of the facility.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties including laundry, clean and disinfect kennels and other shelter areas.
  • Feed animals, clean food bowls and litter boxes, refill water dishes, prepare food.
  • Exercise and socialize animals.
  • Perform additional duties and undertakes special projects as assigned.
  • Preference given to those enrolled or wishing to enroll in a post-secondary course of Animal Health such as Animal Care, Veterinary Technician or similar.

Minimum 1 year experience with animals.

    Time Commitment
    This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2025-12-01
    Shifts are available on the following days
     - Monday Evening, Tuesday Evening, Friday Evening, Saturday Morning, Saturday Evening, Sunday Evening

    Volunteers will be scheduled for 1 shift weekly.

    We require candidates to fill the following shifts, 5 candidates total:

     

    Saturday 9:00am – 12:00pm

    Saturday 4pm- 6:30pm

    Sunday 4pm- 6:30pm

    Monday 4pm- 6:30pm

    Tuesday 4pm- 6:30pm


    Training

    Online H&S training required (as per Town of Caledon), Fear Free Shelters Certificate. On site orientation and training will be provided.
