|||
DescriptionWith support from a seed grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Epilepsy South Central Ontario is proud to introduce EPI Buddy, a community-focused program designed to build meaningful connections for people living with epilepsy. EPI Buddy matches caring volunteers with individuals diagnosed with epilepsy to provide companionship and personalized support through regular one-on-one visits. The program fosters inclusion, reduces isolation, and encourages participants to engage more confidently in their communities while maintaining independence and choice. Activities are guided by each participant’s interests and goals, and may include going for walks, running errands, enjoying social outings, or participating in recreational activities. Every match is thoughtfully made based on compatibility, interests, and location to ensure a positive and meaningful connection. Visits typically take place once or twice per week for one to two hours at a mutually agreed-upon location. Matches are intended to last a minimum of six months, with the hope that they continue for years to come. |
