Description
As the principal Volunteer MBC representative at a display/table/booth at a volunteer fair (or, if you are inclined, as a presenter to a group), our 'Community Outreach Ambassador' inspires people to become engaged, and in doing so, helps them understand how Volunteer MBC supports volunteers in their entry into, and meaningful participation within, the Peel region volunteering sector.

As a 'Community Outreach Ambassador', your role will include:
- Responding to community outreach requests made to Volunteer MBC, or involvement in outreaches initiated by us
- Direct support for displays at specific locations throughout Peel region (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon)
- Providing information and/or answering questions from the public about Volunteer MBC, plus referring individuals to Volunteer MBC and our services, when appropriate
- Opportunity to present an overview of Volunteer MBC plus the importance of volunteering to various groups (i.e. youth, older adults, newcomers, etc.)
- Being a voice for volunteerism in our communities through your presence at community events and public venues
- Bringing your enthusiasm and interest in volunteering to the community, with the advantage and bonus of having fun being a part of our dynamic team!

*** PRIMARY FOCUS will be on CALEDON (as an independent rep, plus assisting our staff member and Caledon resident, Tammy Elliott)

Goal
Volunteer MBC (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon) is the volunteer centre in Peel region. We match Peel residents who desire to volunteer to meaningful volunteering opportunities. But that's only part of what we do. We have our very active 'Learning Centre', and we provide support to many community service organizations.

At Volunteer MBC, one of our main goals is to help connect people who want to volunteer with community service organizations who are looking for volunteers. This role plays an vital part in making that happen, as part of promoting volunteerism in Peel region.

AT THE MOMENT, we are focusing in particular on CALEDON as a community that needs more volunteers who are residents of the Town, and who Volunteer MBC will encourage with YOUR HELP to VOLUNTEER with community service organizations locally.

Position Qualifications
● A strong passion for volunteering
● Good organizational skills
● Knowledge of our local community, especially in relation to volunteering opportunities
● Access to a vehicle is necessary for this 'role' in CALEDON, and would be helpful elsewhere
● Daytime availability and occasional evening/weekends, as requested
● Strong oral and written communication skills
● Friendly, engaging with the public (experience in making presentations to small and large groups is a bonus, although not required)

Time Commitment
Duration:Long Term (More than 6 months)

This volunteer role requires a minimum commitment of 6 months. The volunteer must have a flexible schedule to be able to attend events off-site and be able to assist with display development/preparation during office hours.

Most requests are during the week day with occasional evenings and weekends.

Training
Orientation ; Scheduled training ; Training about setting up our displays, distributing promotional material, and engaging the public will be provided.
