Our 'Music Volunteers' will enjoy a very flexible, creative experience that likely will include the following:
- collaborate closely with our Volunteer Coordinator, staff, and like-minded volunteers to plan varied, ongoing musical programs
- programs centre on a particular instrument OR voice(s) (piano, guitar, ensemble of instruments, soloists, duets, choirs, etc.)
- volunteering may be one-on-one or within a group, by a single musician or by a group
- programs can be performances (eg. 'concerts') or music opportunities that invite participation by our residents (a 'sing-a-long')
- 'jam sessions' or more formal, theme-based presentations (eg. a concert in our auditorium)

Eatonville Care Centre is situated just across the street from the Eatonville Branch of the Toronto Public Library, in a lovely neighbourhood in the heart of Etobicoke. This accredited long term care home has served our 247 multicultural residents since 1971. Centrally located, we are near the intersection of Burnhamthorpe Road and The East Mall, easily accessible by Mississauga Transit (Route 26). Our mission is to promote inclusion, independence and autonomy for all residents. We work as a team of families, physiotherapists, social workers, recreation therapists, dietitians, doctors/nurses, AND VOLUNTEERS to maximize the health and wellness, plus enjoyment of life, of our residents..

Our residents LOVE MUSIC! We seek talented, engaging performers who share that love! Highly creative volunteering opportunities are yours for the asking! Respond to our residents' requests and preferences by designing/delivering music programs just for them! Music has also been shown to assist those who have issues with memory, as some of our residents do.

Position Qualifications

Performance-level proficiency with a musical instrument (piano, guitar, an ensemble) and/or your voice (or as part of a choral group) PREFERRED.

Your overall commitment can range from a few performances (sessions) to development/delivery of an engaging musical program over several months. How you choose to give substance to the role is largely up to you.
