Goal

Caledon Meals on Wheels (CMOW) believes in and continues to build and sustain a community where individuals can enjoy healthy, independent and connected living at any age. Principally, we deliver meals (fresh/frozen/groceries) to residents 65 and older (living in Caledon, Bolton, Orangeville) who cannot independently provide for themselves due to disability or infirmity. CMOW also provides support through other programs intended to promote health and wellness. Our motto: 'Live Your Life!''Let's Do Lunch' - As seniors age, their worlds can become a little smaller, such that they may feel incresingly isolated. The 'Let's Do Lunch' program is an opportunity for clients to connect with volunteers (ideally, peers 55+) on a regular basis while eating a healthy meal together. Weekly lunch visits will take place in clients' homes, will be social in nature, and will foster new friendships, and sharing. Program goal is simple, direct, and meaningful: Reduce 'social isolation'.

Description

Volunteers will pick up CMOW provided meals (one for client/one for volunteer) from our supplier and take them to their assigned client.

Volunteers and clients will have lunch together/visit. Visits will last for approx. one hour every week.

> Paper work to be completed after each visit.

Cost of meal and mileage covered.

You are invited to apply through the CMOW website (see Social Media, below), or through Volunteer MBC, as a client with a 'profile' within its Referral System. Clients can click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' to send your name/contact information to CMOW in respect of this volunteering opportunity. After you apply, as a precaution, please monitor your 'Junk/Spam' email folders and leave space on your voicemail for communications from CMOW.
