Description
● Assist with program set up under supervision of program leads
● Assist with snack distribution during set up
● Assist children in understanding and completing art tasks
● Assist with set up and clean up of the room and program teaching materials, snacks, etc.
● Other tasks as requested

Goal
'The Journey Neighborhood Centre' is committed to bringing hope and transformation to the Ardglen/Orenda communities, walking alongside children, youth, and families as they take positive steps in their lives.

'Art Start' is a youth art program that teaches fundamental skills of visual art. Youth will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively as the program explores new elements of art each week.

The Program Assistant will support the program leads in delivery of program content, helping to create a safe and welcoming environment.

Position Qualifications
● Friendly, engaging, patient with children and parents (prior experience helpful, but not required)
● Punctual, reliable, and able to follow instructions
● Excellent oral/written English
● Ability to volunteer as part of a team, plus independently
● Familiar with art-based concepts (in several media)
● Satisfactory 'Vulnerable Sector' Police Check, if age 18 or older

Time Commitment
Duration:Medium Term (4 - 6 months)
Start Date:2019-10-05
End Date:2019-12-28
Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon
Saturday mornings from 9:30am - 12pm (Noon)

Training
ONE HOUR SESSION to go through 'The Journey's' Volunteer Pack, and on-the-job assistance until comfortable with the program.
