Description- Welcome clients upon their arrival and assist with setting them into the program- Assist in planning and implementing social and recreational activities such as games, cards, indoor gardening, and more - Participate in social and recreational activities with the client and assist them with their exercises as required - Help staff prepare clients lunch and assist with setup and serving - Provide relief reception duties - answering calls, welcoming clients, taking accurate messages and more - Adhere to the vision, mission, and guiding values of the organization and the Health Services Program - Maintain confidentiality of clients, staff and peers - Represent Indus in a professional manner at all times CREATE A VOLUNTEER 'PROFILE' with Volunteer MBC, then 'click' the yellow box 'Apply Now!' GoalINDUS Community Services (formerly known as 'India Rainbow Club of Peel') was founded in 1985 by concerned members of the Indo-Canadian community to meet the settlement and social service needs of newcomers from the Indian sub-continent. With our increasingly expanded mission, we provide educational, social, settlement, health and employment related services to help all new immigrants in the Peel region.Volunteers will engage and interact with clients within the 'Adult Day Program' via program planning and implementation on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting. |

BenefitsVolunteers in the day program are a core part of the Indus team, and benefit from the personable experience offered by interacting with adults or older adults with varying abilities. Volunteers also benefit from educational and informational sessions, as well as expand on their communication and interpersonal skills. The day program offers volunteers to participate in a wide range of tasks, and an opportunity to share creative and innovative ideas in order to engage clients. |

Position Qualifications● Assyrian speaking● Patient, caring and compassionate. Be able to establish a good rapport with the clients ● Experience working with frail, elderly and/or cognitively impaired seniors (an asset) ● Sensitivity to the needs and challenges of the client population ● Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills ● Physical ability to assist someone from a sitting to a standing position, assist with mobility aids, lift light equipment ● Respect confidentiality at all times ● Ability to take direction from staff at all levels Min Age: 16 Police Check: No |
