DescriptionA volunteer on a program committee with be working with the volunteer Program Director and participating in the development of programs in any one of the following areas, depending on interest:- Seasonal market (artisanal / culinary / farmers) - Special events (InSitu Multi-Arts Festival, Signature events, community celebrations) - Creative Tuesdays (education and activities) - Summer Creative Centre - Environmental Activities (site and community gardens, conservation, urban agriculture) OUR NEED IS IMMEDIATE. GoalThe Small Arms Inspection Building (SAIB), located in the Lakeview community of Mississauga, is a compelling, light-filled WWII heritage building with an essential connection to parkland, conservation lands, the waterfront, trails, and neighbourhood. This historical and cultural landmark was saved from intended demolition through the efforts of the 'Small Arms Society' (SAS), a non-profit, community-driven organization that continues to preserve and offer the building for multiple cultural uses.As we expand our Arts and cultural presence in Mississauga, we have an immediate need for keen, energetic, and talented volunteers to join our program committees. By their key contributions, our volunteers assist in developing and implementing programs across the Arts, heritage, environment, and technology. |

Position Qualifications● Awareness of the SAIB and SAS vision/mission (or commitment to learn about it)● Talent, skills, and/or experience that relates to any of the areas noted in the 'Position Description', above ● Solid oral/written English ● 'Project planning' qualifications/experience welcome (NOT REQUIRED) ● Creative, open minded, together with capacity to adhere to project requirements, deadlines and program parameters ● Ability to volunteer independently, as well as be collaborative within a team Min Age: 18 Police Check: No |

Time CommitmentDuration:Any DurationStart Date:2019-11-01 End Date:2020-12-31 Anytime Time commitment will depend on the program and/or project. Volunteers may expect to devote a MINIMUM NUMBER OF HOURS PER MONTH, divided between working at home and meetings/sessions at the Small Arms Building. Tasks undertaken likely will include PROJECTS (or PROGRAMS) that depend on DEADLINES and stages of completion. |
