Description
Our Conservation Youth Corps Program is holding a 2 hour planting session SATURDAY (morning), October 26, 2019, at Claireville Conservation Area, in Brampton (see 'Map', below). Work tasks at the Brampton location: tree, shrub, and wildflower planting, and litter clean up.

Learn and have fun by doing, plus pick up some hours towards your '40 hours'!

Goal
Get outdoors and earn high school volunteer 'community service' hours! Learn about environmental issues in our watershed and help protect our natural spaces!

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) was created to safeguard and enhance the health and well-being of watershed communities through the protection and restoration of the natural environment and the ecological services the environment provides. We continue the vital work of protecting the integrity and health of the rivers and creeks in the jurisdiction, developing a system of green and natural spaces that sustains local ecosystems, and advancing sustainable practices that will improve people's lives within our growing region.

Position Qualifications
You're eligible to participate if you're:
> Age 14 to 18
> Currently enrolled in secondary school
> Interested in the outdoors and environmental conservation
> Comfortable working in a team environment
> Punctual and reliable, prepared to actively participate

As a member of the Conservation Youth Corps, what TRCA expects from you:
> Participation in an orientation and training session
> Proper dress for the activity: Long pants, closed-toed shoes and sun/rain protection; THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN OR SHINE
> Arrival on time at a designated location (PLEASE take into account the time it will take you to get there)
> Compliance with all health and safety instructions provided, plus maintain a safety focus during all tasks (follow your training re. proper use of tools and equipment)
> Completion of other tasks as requested

PLEASE NOTE: Registration is required for youth ages 14-17 participating without parent/guardian supervision (see 'Position Description', above).
