Volunteer MBC is in its 15th year serving Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon in matching volunteers to suitable, worthwhile volunteering opportunities, plus many other services for volunteers and community service organizations. At this time, we need  Events Committee Member, who will assist us in community engagement, particularly in the planning/delivery of our major fundraising events. 

An Events Committee Volunteer belongs to a core group of volunteer leaders who plan and implement Volunteer MBC’s  special events:

•    The V-Oscars Volunteer Recognition Awards Gala – Signature Event — September 2024

•    International Volunteer Day – Peel Cares – December 2024 – smaller in-house event (may turn into a virtual campaign) 


Work with the Event Committee members, Committee Chair, and ED toward the successful implementation of the two events

 Opportunity to lead or participate in different components of events management:

  • Décor and catering
  • Entertainment
  • Silent/live auction, fundraising games, sponsorships, donors, ticket sales
  • Event logistics - Awards Presentation etc 
  • Attend regular Events Committee meetings

Solicit potential donors for sponsorship, donations, or gifts in kind, with support from the Fund Development Committee, Board and Executive Director

Assist with ticket sales

Assist in the enlistment and solicitation of other volunteers for the events, and further Events Committee members as required

  • Confirmation of volunteer hours  and reference letter awarded upon successful completion  of volunteer engagement


  • Experience in event planning and passion for the role that volunteering plays in the community service organization.
  • Supportive and enthusiastic about the organization and its future and attends events and committee activities including attending the meetings on a regular basics
  • Willingness to take part in the identification of and face-to-face solicitations with, potential donors and supporters, as required
  • Experience in the follow-up skill will be considered an asset: special events, fundraising, outreach, sales, marketing, communications
  • Willingness to devote sufficient time and energy and to make a personal commitment of support to each event, either through a lethe ad role or support of various activities
  • Organized, project-oriented, and able to meet project deadlines, and stages of completion, while adhering to overall event schedules.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle will be an asset and a minimum of  ONE Year commitment is preferred.

Shifts are available Anytime


Orientation to Volunteer MBC, and specifically to the Events Committee, Volunteer applicants will be screened virtually for this role. telephone/email/interviews.
