You will handle the ideation and creation of content that spans website copy, emails, social media, blog posts, etc. You will support the creation of:
1. Produce content to support our annual events. The successful candidate will create 4 to 5 pieces for each event that we would be organizing in the coming year. The content should be available at least 6 weeks before the event;
2. Deliver content to support our endeavors in the field of arts, heritage, environmental sciences, and technology. Content under this section could be specific to our projects and initiatives or could be generic and related to the latest developments in the fields of art, heritage, environmental sciences, and technology. The content should also highlight the local highlights in these fields to make it more interesting and relevant for our audience;
3. Miscellaneous content related to our history, our mission and vision and how people can get involved. Produce educational and informational content regarding our organization.

The Small Arms Inspection Building (SAIB), located in the Lakeview community of Mississauga, owned/operated by the City, is a compelling, light-filled WWII heritage building with an essential connection to parkland, conservation lands, the waterfront, trails, and neighbourhood. This historical and cultural landmark was saved from intended demolition through the efforts of the 'Small Arms Society' (SAS), a non-profit, community-driven organization that continues to preserve and offer the building for multiple cultural uses.

'Creative Hub 1352' is the cornerstone of our growing presence in our community, a multi-disciplinary creative hub, a place and means to connect, create, collaborate across the arts, heritage, culture, the environment and technology. A space for innovation, visual arts, performing arts, community events, community gardens, environmental stewardship, community development and more..

We currently are looking for a talented Volunteer Content Writer to create compelling blog posts, newsletter design and content, social media content and web copy. The ideal candidate will help us drive more value through our online content and expand our digital footprint.

Position Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of producing pieces that increase engagement, drive leads and increase traffic to our website. This position requires a high level of creativity, as well as the ability to use data-driven insights to write sticky content. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and committed to taking the lead in creating a valuable content library for Creative Hub 1352. Preference will be given to those with a strong writing portfolio, Bachelor's degree, and relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field. (Students pursuing degrees or diploma in writing-related fields are encouraged to apply as well)
- Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, including but not limited to SEO, email marketing, social media marketing, and web analytics
- Excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
- A keen eye for detail, specifically when it comes to copy-editing and proofreading
- Organized, project-oriented, with ability to adhere to deadlines

FLEXIBLE work schedule.

Volunteers may expect to devote a minimum number of hours per month, divided between working independently and meetings/sessions at the Small Arms Building. Tasks undertaken likely will include projects (or programs) that depend on deadlines and stages of completion, plus periodic reporting.

Successful applicants are expected to possess skills/training suitable for the volunteering role.
