> Ages 12 to 17
> Locations: Heart Lake Conservation Area, Brampton, ON and local community event space (location TBD)
> Wednesday, March 18 to Saturday, March 21, from 9am to 3pm
> 3 bus pick up locations across Caledon and Brampton (see 'Time Commitment', below)
> Students are eligible to earn up to 24 'community service' hours

Spend this March Break building new skills through hands on learning experiences with Girls Can Too!
The first 3 days of the program participants will learn how to use power tools while working alongside female professional mentors. On Saturday, we have an exciting leadership opportunity: Participants will assist with a family event geared to younger girls and their families. Share some of the skills you've learned while empowering young girls to develop hands-on skills and contribute to the community!

Goal
Get outdoors and earn high school volunteer 'community service' hours!

The 'Girls Can Too' program provides young women with hands-on learning experiences in construction and ecology. The program is spearheaded and delivered by 3 female university students, and includes mentorship and training opportunities with females from a variety of professions.

+ Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate verifying their hours of community service , which can be used towards their '40 hours' high school graduation requirement

Position Qualifications
ELIGIBILITY:
● Female identifying youth, ages 12 to 17 years old
● Able to commit to volunteering, incl. mandatory training, for FOUR (4) full days (Wednesday to Saturday) during March Break
● Interested in the outdoors and environmental conservation
● Comfortable working in a team environment
● Punctual and reliable

EXPECTATIONS:
1. Arrive on time at a designated pick up location each day.
2. Participate in an orientation, tool training session, and health and safety session
3. Comply with all health and safety instructions provided and maintain a safety focus during all tasks
4. Daily work activities including building projects and assisting with event facilitation
5. Use hand tools and equipment safely
6. Other tasks as assigned

Please note, volunteers less than 18 years of age require parental or guardian consent to participate in this program.
