Goal

Results Canada is a grassroots advocacy organization that believes in empowering everyday people to use their voices to generate the political will to end extreme poverty. We combine the voices of our volunteers with strategic areas of focus to leverage resources for programs and improved policies that give people living in poverty the health, education and opportunity they need to thrive. Whether it’s writing letters to the editor (LTEs), using social media, or engaging with parliamentarians, our passionate volunteers positively impact people living in low-and middle-income countries. 


Description

Join the next cohort of the Results Canada Education and Advocacy Fellowship Program! It is a 11-month hands-on advocacy and leadership training program for volunteers that will develop their skills in generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. It is open to individuals aged 18 years and older who are based in Canada. Learn more: https://resultscanada.ca/fellowship/ 

The Fellowship provides training and support to speak powerfully, engage with the media, speak directly with parliamentarians, and mobilize your community to make change.  

Commitment: dedicate 4-6 hours per week, including homework and a 90-minute call on the first Tuesday of each month throughout 2024.Deadline: October 31, 2023. Early applications are strongly encouraged as space is limited and applicants are interviewed on a rolling basis.

Qualifications

  • Passion for creating change and ending poverty
  • Ability to commit 4-6 hours per week
  • Open to individuals brand new to Results and anyone who has been a Results Canada volunteer for 6 months or less
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory but proficiency in French is a definite asset (the program will be in English)
  • Commitment to join:
    • monthly Fellowship call
    • monthly call-to-action Q&A
    • monthly Results group Education & Action (E&A) meeting
    • other calls as opportunities come up (webinars, national calls, etc.)
  • Commitment to accomplish monthly Fellowship goals and reports
  • Must be willing to join and interact on Slack (collaborative online platform)
  • At least 18 years old (at the start of the Fellowship)
  • Based in Canada from January-November
  • Past experience in student or community activism, political campaigns, or other anti-poverty or social justice focused activities preferred

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2024-01-01 AND ending 2024-11-30
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Tuesday Evening

FLEXIBLE, subject to scheduled blocks of time > monthly meeting (usually the first TUESDAY EVENING of the month), occasionnal webinars, other calls), but the majority of your hours will based on your own schedule (reading the monthly campaign, planning, researching, taking action, reporting back, etc). 


Training

TRAINING is provided throughout the program.
