Goal

Ornaments of Grace and Virtue is a not-for-profit, charitable community service organization. We are an organization that is passionate about nurturing, mentoring and empowering girls to become, and remain independent, responsible and productive young women in society. Through nurturing and mentoring a girl can become independent, responsible and valuable people that affect society in a positive way. OGAV was founded and registered with the Canadian government in 2014 as an International organization (charity) with the mission to develop independent, responsible, young girls through character building, mentorship, and acquisition of Knowledge, Skills and Ethics needed to thrive in the 21st century global economy.We continue to hold a weekly program 'Girls Hangout', focusing on girls in school (Grades 6 through 12). On Friday's, the program will be conducted 'virtually' by our volunteers from 5 to 6:30 PM.This is an exceptional opportunity for young women (18 - 30 years old) to assume a leadership, mentoring role for youth in such a way that our mission and goals will be met, even dekivered virtually during COVID-19!
Description

[ Applications are being immediately screened, so don't hesitate to APPLY! ]Program leads and support volunteers will introduce and guide youth participants (girls in Grades 6 through 12) in a variety of stimulating activities designed to promote mental health, address issues that are unique to them, and add resiliance. Please see QUALIFICATIONS, below.Volunteers need not be trained in childhood education or youth mentoring. Your presence and influence as a 'role model', good listener, and engaging leader/mentor are what 'Girls Hangout' most needs!Volunteers with 'profiles' in Volunteer MBC's Referral System may click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' Qualifications

  • Open to persons who identify themselves as being of the female gender, from 18 to 30 years of age
  • You have excellent English oral/written communication skills
  • You're comfortable and confident in leading small youth groups in a 'virtual' setting that will be entirely online (Grades 6 through 12)
  • Regular, reliable access to the Internet, with devices (PC, Laptop, etc.) and software that are appropriate for this 'role'
  • Prior volunteer leadership experience will be helpful, though not required
  • Friendly, engaging, passionate about supporting youth in your community, plus you are a 'role model' in waiting
  • You're a self-starter, keen to learn about 'Girls Hangout' and committed to contribute your talent, energy, and time (until June, 2021)

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2022-02-01
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Friday Afternoon, Friday Evening

AT THIS TIME, WEEKLY on Friday, from 5 to 6:30 PM, plus prep time for each session
Training

Successful applicants will be provided with background on Ornaments of Grace and Virtue and the 'Girls Hangout' program, PLUS you will be trained in respect of the virtual communications platform that we use to connect to participants.
