Goal

Are you looking for practical administrative experience working with extensive databases in the mental health sector?If so, then Distress Centres of Greater Toronto has a role for you! Administrative Support Volunteer!Distress Centres of Greater Toronto (DCOGT) is a non-profit organization that provides free, confidential, and multilingual support to people in crisis, people with mental health issues, for those individuals who are socially or psychologically isolated, and to the marginalized. Our Helpline provides emotional support and crisis intervention to incoming callers who may be socially isolated, marginalized, struggling with chronic mental health problems, in distress, attempting to navigate family violence or in need of emergency response or suicide prevention, intervention or postvention. The Outbound services provide emotional support in the GTA through social calls, medication reminders and check-in calls.)The Administrative Support Volunteer will support the growth of these programs by working closely with a Program Coordinator to assist in a wide variety of administrative tasks (4 hours a week - virtual). 


Description

Our Adminstrative Support Volunteer will be engaged in a 'role' that embraces tasks that are typical of 'office administration', virtually, which include:

  • Maintain client files and data entry
  • Support client and volunteer correspondence as needed by phone or email
  • Develop strategies to enhance the overall program
  • Performs other related tasks as requested and assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Age - 18
  • You're able to commit to a 6 MONTH volunteering engagement (4 hours per week)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Quick learner and can focus on tasks at hand, plus you are capable of volunteering with a minimum of supervision
  • Punctual, reliable, and you follow through on commitments
  • Reliable access to the Internet and devices/software needed for the 'role'
  • Computer proficiency, knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and the ability to learn and utilize other applications quickly and effectively

Training

An overview of DCOGT and our Solution Focused Framework will be provided. Office administration orientation and specific TRAINING will be provided by Program Coordinator.
