Goal

Services and Housing in the Province (SHIP) operates 'Peace Ranch', a community mental health agency/residence offering supportive housing and social recreational rehabilitation programs to individuals with serious mental illness, as well as those who are dealing with coincidental addiction challenges. Located on a beautiful 25 acre (10 hectare) farm in Caledon, 'Peace Ranch' provides a unique rural setting for whole health and healing. Our residence offers full time supportive housing for up to 10 individuals.

We have a 10' diameter gazebo in the middle of our Teaching Vegetable Garden.  A volunteer group replaced wood and edging but did not have time to put on shingles. We have all materials to finish job except for any specialty roofing tools such as knife to cut shingles. We would need to rent scaffolding from local Home Depot. Our gazebo is the centre piece to our Teaching Garden and we miss being able to use it!

If you're handy, and if you've 'roofed' a shed or helped install shingles on a home, this small, likely one-day project, is a great way to volunteer and help SHIP! Have fun by getting a small crew together!

Description

See GOAL, above.

Volunteers, a team of least 2, hopefully will be involved to picking up the needed scaffolding, then use it to gain access to the roof of the gazebo. Gazebo cupula needs to be be temporarily removed. Shingles need to be lifted onto the scaffold for roof installation.

Those with interest in this project can ask SHIP to send photos of the gazebo as it is now, so that you may gain a good idea and what the project involves. Our estimate is a team of 2, with the roofing taking 4 hours to complete.

SHIP would like this project completed ASAP. Click on the yellow box 'Apply Now!', or contact Sue Morling (see How to Contact, below).
