GoalShelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence. We are the only organization of our kind in Canada, and our volunteers are no less exceptional. We are growing and looking to add caring and compassionate people to our volunteer team.

DescriptionPosition Summary Movers and Drivers are the “boots on the ground” and are essential to our organization’s mission. In a group of 2 - 6 movers and drivers, volunteers pack and load a client’s belongings into vehicles and transport the client to predetermined locations. Vehicles are provided for moves, and movers who have a valid driver’s license are welcome to register as drivers. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way. Moves usually vary from 4 - 6 hours, depending on the circumstances. Our volunteering model is flexible and does not require a set time commitment. QualificationsWe are recruiting for Drivers with weekday availability (Monday to Friday). Moves usually happen from 9 AM - 4 PM.
Drivers must be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid G2 or G license in Ontario. They must also complete an interview process, sign a confidentiality agreement, obtain a police reference check, and attend a Trauma-Informed Care Orientation session. Time CommitmentThis is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime Scheduling is flexible; time commitment varies depending on the move. Each move takes approximately 4 - 6 hours. Volunteers can sign up for moves according to their schedule and availability. A minimum of 2 moves per month (8 - 12 hours/month) is encouraged. This is an unpaid volunteer position. |

TrainingWe provide a 2 hour Trauma-Informed Care Orientation designed to train our volunteers for the role. Various other training opportunities may be offered after onboarding. |
