Goal

Volunteer MBC is in its 15th year serving Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon in matching volunteers to suitable, worthwhile volunteering opportunities that build more caring and connected communities. At this time, we are in need of a volunteer to take on the Chair position of our Events Committee. As Chair of the Events Committee, you will work closely with the other member's Committee and dedicated staff to ensure that event-related sponsorships and fundraising are successfully planned and implemented for Volunteer MBC's major annual events.

The Chair of the Events Committee commits to provide leadership to the Events Committee regarding the planning and implementation of the following  Volunteer MBC fundraising events:

•    The V-Oscars Volunteer Recognition Awards Gala – Signature Event — September 18th, 2024

•    International Volunteer Day – Peel Cares – December 2024 – smaller in-house event (may turn into a virtual campaign)

 

 


Description

  • Work collaboratively and serve as an ambassador for Volunteer MBC events and work along with ED, Staff Team, and the Events Committee Members by providing leadership event management support and guidance throughout the planning and execution of two or maybe three events listed above
  • Provide coaching and support to the committee members throughout the events planning process ensuring that timelines are achieved on schedule
  • Encourage strong communication channels between the committee leads and identify any requirements for support within the Events Committee 
  • Consult with committee members and ED to schedule committee meetings and build productive agendas
  • Chair monthly committee meetings. Provide bi-weekly updates to committee members and the E.D
  • Work with the ED to facilitate the post-event wrap-up and event evaluation process
  • Entertainment, Silent/live auction, fundraising games, sponsorships, donors, ticket sales
  • Event logistics - Awards Presentation,Décor and catering  etc.

  • Willingness to devote sufficient time and energy to fundraising events including attending meetings regularly
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Passionate about Volunteer MBC's vision of changing lives through volunteerism
  • Excited about raising funds to support Volunteer MBC
  • Comfortable with soliciting sponsorships, donations, gifts-in-kind, and selling event tickets              
  •  Experience in event planning, Strong communication, and organizational skills

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime

Approximately 16 hours a month and up to 6 hours per week on the final two weeks before the event. A commitment to two events is most desirable. 


Training

Orientation to Volunteer MBC provided on first day of term. Includes virtual meet & greet with staff and volunteers, and Health & Safety.

Donor prospecting and solicitation training is available as required.
