You can be a champion for access to justice! North Peel & Dufferin Community Legal Services is looking for new members for our Board of Directors.


Description

We are a community legal clinic serving residents of Brampton, Caledon and Dufferin County. We provide free legal services to persons with low income, including help with tenancies, disability benefits, social assistance, immigration and employment law. Community legal clinics are funded by Legal Aid Ontario. Each one is an independent non-profit corporation with a community-based board of directors. Our Board of Directors is a policy board comprised of committed and enthusiastic individuals who are knowledgeable in law, finances, management and community services. We are currently looking for new board members with a high degree of personal commitment to our cause.

Candidates with specific experience in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Lawyer or Paralegal
  • Manager
  • Community Services Sector Experience
  • Digital Content Specialist

Qualifications

Successful candidates must live or work in Brampton, Caledon or Dufferin County. They must be able to serve an initial three-year term and should be able to devote approximately 4 hours per month to:

  • Attendance at monthly Board Meetings (1.5 hours per month + prep time)
  • There are no meetings in July, August or December
  • We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
  • Virtual attendance is an option
  • Serve on at least one Board Committee
  • Minimum three-year term to a maximum of three, three-year terms

Driver's Licence: Not required   
Proof of Vaccination: Not required


Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2024-01-23 AND ending 2027-09-20
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Tuesday Evening
