Goal

The 2019 'CIBC Run for the Cure' will take place on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2019, at the University of Toronto (Mississauga).The CIBC Run for the Cure is a walk/run event held in nearly every community across Canada. Our purpose is to bring together people who support those affected by breast cancer, and to raise funds for breast cancer research and patient support programs.Planning and organizing the Run takes time, passion, and creative thinking. With support from volunteers and the organization's staff, you will be a part of something truly extraordinary in your community. Although this is a national event, local success depends on volunteers like you. With your community insight, you will raise awareness, encourage participation, and drive fundraising results. Description

Available Committee Positions:> Community Outreach Coordinator: Yyou will identify opportunities to promote the CIBC Run for the Cure in your community (festivals and events, speaking engagements, parades). You will encourage participation in the Run by connecting with the community and sharing the importance of the cause and impact of funds raised. > Team Engagement Coordinator: You will be the first line of communication for new and returning team captains. You will be tasked with sending welcome emails, encouraging team captains to build their teams, and set and achieve fundraising goals.> Individual Engagement Coordinator: You will oversee all participant activities as well as ensure they have the required fundraising tools and resources to achieve success. Help participants to reach their fundraising goals with regular communication and encouragement.> Registration Lead oversees the management of donations and tabulation of results primarily on Run weekend. They support the coordination of team t-shirt picking and early t-shirt pick-up events, provide volunteer training and support on Run weekend for everyone in Registration. > Local Sponsorship Lead: By utilizing your personal and professional networks, you will strengthen relationships with existing sponsors and attract new sponsors. Working with your committee you are responsible for prospecting, developing, and establishing new relationships and leads, both in cash and in-kind sponsorships. (Comfortable making cold calls and sponsorship asks, and ability to network and negotiate) > Site Lead (co-lead): As the (co-lead) Site Lead, you are responsible for organizing an accessible and functional site for participants, sponsors and volunteers on Run day. You will organize the venue, participant services (refreshments, first-aid, and information), electrical requirements, staging, tents and other equipment as needed. Safety and accountability is a key priority during the planning process You will be responsible for soliciting quotes from service providers, submitting agreements and invoices to your Run Director/Staff Lead and overseeing the inventory and storage of Run materials. You will work closely with fellow committee members to ensure needs are met for Run day and all tasks and requirements are completed. You will also oversee the set-up, tear down and clean-up (including disposal) of the Run site location and create and maintain a file of all contacts and timelines that will be shared with the Run Director(s).> T-shirt Pickup Coordinator: Working with the Registration lead, ensure t-shirt pickup is scheduled and executed. Qualifications

Time Commitment:● Monthly committee meetings from May to July and biweekly in August and September● Weekly tasks averaging 2-5 hours per week depending your role and the time of year● Attendance, plus assumption of a leadership role at pre-Run events/opportunities● In person availability from October 2 to 6.The ideal committee member has:● Strong organizational and time management skills (especially scheduling and deadlines)● Ability to volunteer independently and as a member of a team● Exceptional oral/written communication skills● Access to a computer with Internet, and willingness to use new software programs● Passion for the breast cancer cause
