Description

CASE's 'Volunteer Recreational Aide' embraces one or more of the following roles:● Brainstorm, conceptualize, then plan programs (and program activities), based on interests of clientele and resources available (incl. site logistics, volunteer recruitment, and who the participants will be)● Set up and run the recreational activities (plus, keep recreation facilities clean and in order at all times)● Promote awareness and attendance, then ensure that there are enough participants for an activity to be able to start● Ensure procurement of proper supplies and materials for each activity, based upon the program plan for the activity that is in place and anticipated/confirmed attendance● Provide participants with sufficient, understandable information on rules and procedures for the activities intended, so that they will fully participate in and enjoy the experience● Evaluate the outcome of each program and its activities, using the organization forms● Generally, volunteer effectively with staff, co-volunteers, and participants in the program, following the plan and safety requirements while promoting education and fun!

Qualifications

● Minimum Age - 21● Volunteers are requested to commit to at least 4 months engagement, in order that the programs and their activities enjoy productive contiuity● Friendly, engaging, able to guide and be conversational in a group setting, especially seniors● Solid oral/written English (a second language is always welcome)● Post-secondary diploma or degree in 'Recreation & Leisure Studies'; 'Kinesiology'; or a related field, from an accredited educational institution and/or several years of involvement in running recreational programs for seniors● Able to operate visual media equipment (projectors and related presentation devices)● Currently certified in 'Standard First Aid' and 'CPR'● A Peel 'Food Handler' certification is a welcome asset**** Because the role involves volunteering with seniors, a satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Report', dated within the past 6 months, is required.

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Evening, Tuesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Evening

FLEXIBLE volunteer schedule (involving Mon evening; Tues morning; Wed afternoon; and Thurs evening, at this time, specific hours to be arranged)


Training

Orientation and Training will be provided at CASE's office and onsite.
