Goal

For over 20 years, the Canadian Cancer Society's signature fundraising event 'Relay For Life' has brought together communities, united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. These events, spread throughout Canada, are also an opportunity to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer and those moving past cancer. Whether you are cheering on survivors, walking the track or joining in exciting trackside activities, 'Relay For Life' is an unforgettable event!In Brampton, the 'Relay for Life' planning committee seeks a capable, personable, and wholly committed (volunteer) 'Logistics Lead', who enjoys the challenge of event planning, particularly as same relates to a high-profile fundraising, recreational event. The successful applicant will bring leadership and a talent for multi-tasking to this key 'position' that supports the Brampton Planning Committee in many ways.


Description

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: - Support all committee Leads in event initiatives that require logistics support (securing 'Relay for Life' venue, food and beverage station locations, plus plan a set up and tear down strategy of our recruitment, outreach, and 'Survivor' celebration events) - Acquire (through donations 'in kind', preferably) materials for all planned events and activities - Coordinate timing and location of any necessary deliveries and pick-ups for 'Relay' event(s)

Qualifications

For this 'role', you need to be:● An excellent communicator● Experience in 'event planning' is a definite asset (capacity to reach 'milestones'/meet deadlines)● Connected, with capacity to broaden your 'network', plus persuade businesses and individual to donate towards the event's logistics● Self-motivated, plus a person who through taking the 'lead', motivates others (collaborative in committees)● Proactive, ready for a positive challenge● Resourceful (with persistence to 'close the deal', plus 'problem solve')● Knowledgeable about where locally logistical support is likely to come from, with personal outreach/follow up

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2020-01-06 AND ending 2020-06-30
Shifts are available Anytime

Attend monthly committee meetings (in Brampton - Jan to July, 2020). Meetings will become more frequent as fundraising (main) event date approaches.Attendance and active volunteering on the day of 'Relay for Life'FLEXIBLE: Devote necessary time to EVENT PLANNING from a LOGISTICS PERSPECTIVE (ongoing communication with committee leads, outreach into the local community for logistic support (donations 'in kind', financial contributions), attendance at promotional opportunities, etc.)
