For over 20 years, the Canadian Cancer Society's signature fundraising event 'Relay For Life' has brought together communities, united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. These events, spread throughout Canada, are also an opportunity to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer and those moving past cancer. Whether you are cheering on survivors, walking the track or joining in exciting trackside activities, 'Relay For Life' is an unforgettable event!In Brampton, the 'Relay for Life' planning committee seeks a capable, personable, and wholly committed (volunteer) 'Recruitment and Retention Lead', who will be instrumental in ATTRACTING and INCREASING 'Relay for Life' participants who in turn will secure financial sponsorship. A superb opportunity for 'networkers' who love to 'connect' to a wide audience within the Brampton community! This challenging role is ideal for those volunteers who want to take their leadership qualities to the 'next level'.


Description

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES- Engagement in your community, recruiting new people to participate in the event- 'Networking' past participants to join in the event once again- Communicating with new and past participants through phone calls and email communications, as well as in-person opportunities at promotional events- Represent the Canadian Cancer Society as a leadership volunteer in your community through active local promotion, 'networking', persistent 'PR' ('getting the word out')

EVENT PLANNING/RECRUITMENT: Attend monthly (and closer to event day, bi-weekly), committee meetings (in Brampton)The nature of the 'role' requires our 'Lead' to engage in continuous recruitment (via phone calls/emails/social media/personal appearances) of prospective and past participants, such that the schedule necessarily will involve significant FLEXIBILITY in collaboration with 'Relay for Life' event staff and committee chairs..
